West Coast

or simply smell the saltwater amongst the ancient cedars and look out

Northern Vancouver Island
Stop in Campbell River on your way to the North Island and visit the
many small stores offering a good collection of art and souvenirs.
Campbell River is a cruise ship destination and has lots to offer.
Take a tour north through an increasingly rugged and remote mountains
region. Lake after lake, rivers and creeks, this is a good opportunity
to witness modern logging practices and a successful reforestation
program. Follow signs east to Telegraph Cove and take advantage of
the whale watching tours offered here.
Venture further north into Port McNeill and take a short ferry ride to
Alert Bay where you can view totem poles and other Native Art in this
old fishing community.
Southern Vancouver Island
Travel south along a picturesque coastline towards Victoria, a city with
a definite British flair. Here you can visit old churches, the provincial
Museum, the Butchart botanical gardens, the royal wax-museum and the
undersea gardens.
Gulf Islands
Take a short ferry ride to visit the many smaller islands off the east
coast of Vancouver Island: Gabriola, Newcastle, Lasqueti, Texada, Denman,
Hornby, Quadra and Cortez islands just to name a few.
Golfing, skiing, hiking, kayaking, marine and land-based wildlife viewing,
fishing, beachcombing and surfing - Vancouver Island has it all!
